Vintage Petal Palooza Collection

This cozy and nostalgic Vintage Petal Palooza Collection draws heartfelt inspiration from my grandmother’s colorful aprons and the coziness of Grandma’s Mid-Century Modern home—especially found in the softly hued pink bathroom in the coral colorway.

The designs feature hand-drawn florals and leafy motifs that nod to vintage nostalgia while embracing modern minimalism. Each design radiates visual comfort, offering gentle whimsy and a soothing counterbalance to complicated times.

Combine patterns for quilting and clothing with that cozy yet modern vibe that emphasizes the beauty of nature featuring leaves and florals.

The collection is a perfect balance of sophistication and warmth, where the timeless simplicity of Mid-Century design meets the dreamy spirit of Cottage Core, bringing a modern, comforting aesthetic to any home.

The simple elegant whimsy of the Mid-Century Modern style has always attracted me, making the most of simple shapes combined with creative design. It’s what I grew up with and even now is making life cozy in our second Mid-Century Modern home.

These patterns can be subtle or loud and sing together well in a blend of patterns for quilting and creative clothing.

The tranquil yet playful shapes can take a background of wallpaper or curtains and create a livable, cozy style with a modern vibe.

 Cozy Coastal Collection

The beach is my happy place…

Anyone who knows me will tell you my happiest place is walking along the Pacific Northwest shore. Sometimes the desire to walk on the beach is so strong, I will drive an hour and a half to go for a walk along the water’s edge and drive back home. If love could buy a beach cabin, I would have ocean front.

Many happy memories are there and I tried to put some of them into the lighthouse and beach fun pattern. The seagulls were drawn from actual seagulls I took photos of and the pattern can be adjusted to less birds or only clouds as shown smaller to the left. The shells are drawn from my collection and arranged as shell mandalas or dancing starfish, with a quaint pinstripe with sand dollar dots.

The wind and waves and beach air are healing to my soul and my hope is that free flowing feeling of good times and beauty at the beach would be felt by those who enhance their home and experience with these patterns.

A bit about my pattern design story…

I’ve always noticed and looked for patterns. When I was 15 years old, my class took a career strength survey test. When mine came back I was devastated. Far above other possibilities for jobs, pattern maker was at the top. I asked what that meant, but no one seemed to know. My mind filled in the blank with visions of “Laverne & Shirley’ television episodes of me being ridiculous on a production line, or on a machine somewhere arranging sewing pattern pieces on tissue paper. That was years ago and the lightbulb connection didn’t come on until this year, in 2025.

In the ‘90’s I designed and hand-cut stencils to paint on client’s walls. Then in 2017 I began to design stencils for StencilGirl Products® and have really enjoyed designing, and using the stencils in my artwork. I had hopes of expanding designing but didn’t know how to go about it. Then at the beginning of 2025 I took a free course by Bonnie Christine on pattern design, and then another on the business part of design. I found I could learn programs like Adobe Illustrator and enjoyed figuring out how to make pleasing repeating patterns. I signed up for her Immersion course, worked diligently, got certified, and the beautiful world of pattern design is opening up. So many designs are wanting to be made and I’m excited to make them.

One thing I’m learning in real time is that It’s never too late and nothing is wasted. All the years of art making, journaling, doodling and designing have put together a body of work that can be deconstructed, added to, and built on to make beautiful patterns to put on products.

I’m excited for MORE!

I’d love to hear from you.
